How We Review Vendors

Transparency earns consideration. Evidence earns recognition. Compensation never determines our conclusions. A completed review is not product certification, an endorsement, or a guarantee of safety or regulatory compliance.

PeptideSciences101 evaluates research-material suppliers to help readers understand what quality and business documentation is available, what we independently corroborated, and what remains unknown. This is an editorial documentary review, not an inspection, audit of a manufacturing facility, or independent laboratory test.

Six areas we examine

  1. Company identity and accountability. We look for a legally identifiable business, a responsible contact, operating and refund policies, and an answerable representative.
  2. Authenticity of laboratory records. We seek original certificates of analysis (COAs), test methods, report identifiers, dates, and direct issuer confirmation where available. A vendor-hosted PDF alone is not considered independently verified.
  3. Lot and inventory traceability. We look for batch identifiers and a demonstrable connection between a report, a sampled lot, and the inventory currently offered. A genuine lab report does not prove the present stock matches the tested sample.
  4. Scope of quality testing. We distinguish identity, purity, quantity, contamination, endotoxin, and sterility testing. One measurement must never be presented as evidence that every relevant risk was tested or ruled out.
  5. Marketing and regulatory practices. We review product descriptions, intended-use language, material FDA actions and other credible notices, and how the supplier responds to concerns. A research-use-only disclaimer does not by itself establish lawful marketing.
  6. Customer accountability. We review published returns and complaint procedures, credible patterns in customer reports, and the vendor's response to documented problems. Anonymous ratings alone are not a basis for approval.

What each review status means

Under Review
A candidate is being evaluated. Records may be publicly available, but one or more checks remain open. This is not an approval.
Review Completed
The review's documented requirements were satisfied at the time stated, with limitations and scope published on the individual profile. This does not certify products or predict future conduct.
Review Suspended
A previous assessment cannot currently be relied upon because of material unresolved concerns, contradictory evidence, or overdue information. Suspension is not, by itself, a finding of wrongdoing.

A supplier may also have no review status if we have not begun an assessment. Historical directory labels, ratings, and self-reported claims are not equivalent to a completed review under this methodology.

Evidence and decision rules

We publish the review date, the specific documents examined where we can, direct verification steps, unresolved questions, and material changes. We distinguish vendor statements from independently corroborated facts. We do not infer sterility, clinical safety, efficacy, FDA approval, or lawful human use from purity reports.

We will not award a completed status while material product-identity, laboratory-authenticity, traceability, or marketing-compliance questions remain unanswered. Suppliers may correct factual errors, but cannot demand a favorable conclusion.

Reassessment and corrections

We aim to reassess reviewed suppliers at least once every 90 days, and earlier after material changes to inventory, testing, advertising, regulatory notices, or documented complaints. A missed recheck will be described as overdue; we will not represent stale work as current. Substantive corrections and status changes will be dated.

Editorial and commercial separation

A supplier cannot buy a listing, review outcome, favorable ranking, or suppression of criticism. A commission, free or discounted product, or other material benefit must be disclosed clearly near any relevant commercial link. Paid links use appropriate qualifications such as rel="sponsored". An independent editorial assessment never constitutes an invitation to self-administer investigational compounds.

This program is separate from our proposed laboratory testing program, which is still in preparation. We do not claim to have commissioned independent sample tests through this vendor review process.

See our Vendor & Affiliate Partnership Policy for eligibility, applicable legal considerations, disclosures, and commercial terms.
